This 23-storey condominium project presented two major structural challenges. The soil on the site, previously occupied by a gas station, was contaminated, and below the site flows Garrison Creek, buried over 100 years ago. Working together with a hydrology engineer, Sigmund Soudack’s structural engineers designed a raft to isolate the contaminated soil, resist the hydrostatic pressure of the creek, and provide dry conditions for construction.
